Laboratory water distillers are devices designed to produce distilled water through a process of heating, vaporisation and subsequent condensation. The resulting water can be used for a wide range of routine laboratory tasks, such as preparing solutions, cleaning laboratory glassware and equipment, carrying out analyses and experiments, or preparing reagents.
At Pobel, we offer several ranges of water distillers, including the 700 Series, models 804 and 811, the DESA and DETA Series, and the Hydro and Bi-Hydro units. Within the 700 Series, two of the models for which we receive the most enquiries regarding spare parts are the 710 and 720 distillers. Both models are included in Pobel’s catalogue as part of our range of water distillers.
Over the course of the equipment’s service life and as part of routine maintenance, certain components may need to be replaced. This is when a very common question arises: which spare part is the correct one for my distiller? This question is particularly common when ordering components such as the heating element, but it may also arise in relation to the guide bushing, gaskets, condenser, glass body, level tube or flanges.
Before selecting any part, there are two key pieces of information that should be checked: the model of the distiller and its serial number. Correctly identifying whether the unit is a 710 or a 720 and providing the equipment’s serial number makes it possible to determine which spare part is suitable for that specific unit and helps prevent ordering an incompatible component.
In this guide, we will explain how to visually distinguish between the 710 and 720 distillers, where to find the serial number, and which replacement parts users are most likely to need during the equipment’s service life.
How to Visually Distinguish a Pobel 710 Distiller from a 720
One of the most common questions we receive regarding spare parts for these units is how to identify whether the installed distiller is a 710 or a 720 model. At first glance, they may look similar, as both belong to the same range and share several operating features. However, there is one very simple visual difference that makes them easy to tell apart.
The easiest way to tell them apart: check the condenser
The main visual difference between the two models is the position of the condenser:
-
Model 710 — Ref. 0100710710: the condenser is positioned vertically.
-
Model 720 — Ref. 0100720720: the condenser is positioned horizontally.
So, before checking any spare part, the first step is simply to look at the position of the condenser. Vertical means 710; horizontal means 720.
This visual check is especially useful when the user no longer has the equipment documentation or does not remember exactly which model is installed.
How to Find the Serial Number
Each distiller has a unique serial number that allows the unit to be identified accurately. This information is very important, as it may be required when making enquiries, requesting technical support, ordering spare parts, or carrying out any other procedure related to the equipment.
For this reason, it is essential to know where the serial number is located and how to find it correctly. Below, we show you visually where on the distiller you can find the serial number, so that you can identify it quickly and easily whenever you need it.
Most Common User-Replaceable Spare Parts
With regular use of the distiller, certain components may need to be replaced due to wear, routine maintenance, or simply the passage of time. Knowing which spare parts are most commonly required will help you quickly identify the part you need and speed up any maintenance work or replacement request.
Below, we show you the main spare parts most frequently replaced by users, together with their name and reference number, so that you can easily locate and identify them.
Finally, it is important to remember that, when ordering any spare part, you must provide the distiller’s serial number.
This information allows us to check the exact configuration of the unit and verify that the requested spare part is suitable for that specific piece of equipment. Even if two distillers appear to be identical, certain components may vary depending on the model, version, or date of manufacture.
For this reason, providing us with the serial number from the outset helps us avoid errors, speed up the identification of the correct replacement part, and provide you with faster and more accurate support.
